International Cultural Youth Exchange, originated in 1949, when 50 adventurous young Germans ventures across the Atlantic invited by American Families to stay for year in the united States of America.
ICYE started out as a post-world War II Peace and Reconciliation program between America and Germany to heal the devastating mental and psychological wounds of war.
In 1950, young Americans went across to Germany for a year and stayed with German families. Thus was born ICYE. Over the last 65 year ICYE has grown and is now established in 45 countries worldwide promoting Inter-Cultural education and international peace and harmony in India, it is called as the “Inter Cultural Dialogue & Exchange – India”.
The lives of thousands of people have been forever transformed by the ICYE exchange program. Building bridges of peace, justice and understanding through personal encounters has been our goal throughout the past 65 years.
ICYE is one of the most experienced, personal and flexible programs in the field of youth mobility and youth exchange. Our programs have been constantly revised and modified to reflect changes in society at a local and global level.
Today the ICYE federation is an international, independent non-profit organization with 45 national committees in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. Its International office is in Berlin. Germany.
